1 cup Flour |
1⁄2 cup Sugar |
1 Egg, large |
2 cup Cornmeal |
2 tbl Baking Powder |
2 tsp Garlic Powder |
1⁄2 tsp Black pepper |
16 oz can Corn, cream style |
1⁄2 tsp Cayenne or red pepper |
1⁄3 cup Onions, finely chopped |
1⁄3 cup Onion tops, finely chopped |
Sift dry ingredients into a large bowl. Combine wet ingredients in another bowl. Mix ingredients in each bowl well then add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix well. Batter should form a medium soft dough. If batter does not appear to be stiff enough, a small amount of flour or cornmeal may be added. Refrigerate batter at least ? hour. Drop by teaspoons in hot oil and fry until golden brown. Drain on paper towls before serving. This bread dish compliments any fried seafood.
